A highly energetic dance project on global groove and communality that brings together an international team of eight dancers and three musicians from Senegal and Germany.
The directors Alesandra Seutin (Artistic Director École de Sables, Senegal) and Stephanie Thiersch (Artistic Director MOUVOIR, Germany) challenge the principle of hospitality in a choreographic process with artists of different living and working backgrounds. Current political enfoldings of the criminalisation of hospitality in many parts of the world as well as concepts of Jacques Derrida and Anne Dufourmantelle and utopian common spaces found their way into the project. What are speculative futures and scenarios of togetherness? What do communalizations across borders/cultures mean? How do we get into a common groove? These questions also include issues of adaptation and appropriation as well as cultural (and economic) dominance and hierarchies in creative processes – with both a “welcoming attitude” and a combative one, advocating the principle of shared space and resources.
