Marcela Ruiz Quintero

Marcela Ruiz Quintero studied Contemporary Dance at the Universidad Distrital de Bogotá, and at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen.

From 2005 to 2009, she worked with the dance company Folkwang Tanzstudio, from 2007 to 2010, she was invited by the Pina Bausch dance company to perform the iconic piece “The Rite of Spring” during a world tour.

Since 2009, Ruiz has been developing her own projects as a freelance dancer and choreographer and collaborated with different artists including Leandro Kees, Felix Landerer, MOUVOIR/Stephanie Thiersch, Cooperativa Maura Morales Yudesbiet, Pipo Tafel, Laura Colmenares Guerra, Cornelia Kupferschmind/ Fetter Fisch- Performance/Theater, Joachim Schloemer, das E-MEX Ensemble, Claudia Robles-Angel and Formation Silvia Jedrusiak. From 2011 to 2019, Marcela worked with choreographer and dancer Jennifer Ocampo Monsalve and director Philip Gregor Grüneberg and founded their company HIDDEN TRACKS in 2015.

Parallel to her creative work, she has been teaching professional workshops of contemporary dance and contact improvisation in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Germany. She is currently teaching professional dance training in context at Tanzfaktur in Köln.
